Police have identified the pedestrian who was killed in a predawn accident on Alabama Highway 69 South
TUSCALOOSA, AL — Police have identified the pedestrian who was killed in a predawn accident on Alabama Highway 69 South Thursday morning.
Tuscaloosa resident Michael David Moore, 43, was walking south in the far left lane of Alabama Highway 69 South when he was struck minutes before 5 a.m., according to Tuscaloosa Police.
Moore died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was cooperative with investigators, according to a release from TPD.

“The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and crossing in an area where there wasn’t a crosswalk,” said Assistant Chief Steve Rice.
The collision occurred just south of the highway’s intersection with Kauloosa Avenue, in an area that doesn’t see much foot traffic, police said. TPD’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is conducting a follow-up investigation.

Several lanes of the busy highway were closed during the morning rush hour, with all lanes re-opened by 9:10 a.m.
