TPD Identifies Tuscaloosa Man Killed In Wednesday Morning Crash

The Tuscaloosa Police Department on Thursday identified a Tuscaloosa man killed yesterday in a single-vehicle wreck on 29th Street.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department on Thursday identified a Tuscaloosa man killed yesterday in a single-vehicle wreck in the 3700 block of 29th Street Wednesday morning.

TPD says Anthony Pernell Banks, 41, was the driver of a 2008 BMW 328i and was traveling west on 29th Street when he lost control of the car.

The vehicle then struck a curb and crossed the center line of the road before striking a tree along the wood line just before 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Banks was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by TPD's Accident Reconstruction Unit.
