Tuscaloosa Academy's Lancaster Earns ASWA 2A Back Of The Year

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Academy quarterback Preston Lancaster on Tuesday was named Class 2A Back of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA)

The prestigious award was presented to Lancaster Tuesday at the 2023 Mr. Football & Players of the Year Banquet held in Montgomery, with only 48 players in the state being recognized.

"Receiving the ASWA Class 2A Back of the Year award is an incredible honor, and I am truly grateful for this recognition," Lancaster said. "None of this would have been possible without my teammates, coaches, and family."

Under head coach Josh Wright, Lancaster led the Tuscaloosa Academy offense by completing 254-of-365 passes for 3,941 yards and 46 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 90 times for 213 yards and nine touchdowns.

"Preston's exceptional talent, work ethic, and leadership have been instrumental in our team's success this season," Wright said. "His ability to rise to the occasion and consistently deliver outstanding performances is truly admirable. This award is a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and commitment to the sport and his team."

As he considers the next level, Lancaster currently has a Division I offer from Murray State University.

He is the son of Paige and Mark Lancaster.
