Styled as "Just Two Redneck Amigos Full of BS," Boozy Spirits is the brainchild of friends Justin Grimball of Jalapeños and Matt Ray of Eat My Beats.

The roll-out of the podcast is also sure to compliment the rich selection offered by Jalapeños Downtown Cocina + Tequila Bar in downtown Tuscaloosa, which opened in late 2022 to much fanfare.

“Matt and I came up with a podcast concept that featured our passion for boozy spirits, life and comedy," Grimball told Patch. "We’re not doing it for fame, we’re just doing it to de-stress the masses with our non-apologetic, definitely not politically correct, approach to life.”

After trolling Jack Daniel's with a humorous teaser for Tennessee Hate Week, the first full episode of the podcast premiered this week across the Boozy Spirit social media channels and will also be regularly published on Tuscaloosa Patch as part of a brand-new partnership.

The very first episode of the podcast — available at the top of this story — highlights beer from Mobile-based Braided River Brewing.

"As I got older my passions changed," Ray explained to Patch. "I am passionate about learning about spirits and passing on some wisdom — I mean BS — with my partner in crime Justin Grimball. Live, love and drink."”

Full episodes will be roughly 15 minutes in length and are available for free on both Spotify and YouTube.

Boozy Spirits also plans to post "Quickies" — short videos and podcast teasers promoting whatever spirit is on the agenda for the two hosts.
