Tuscaloosa Candidate Qualifying Update Ahead Of Jan. 26 Deadline
Here's a look at the candidates who have qualified to run in the March 2 municipal election in Tuscaloosa before next week's deadline.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Next week will mark the end of candidate qualifying and see ballots set for the March municipal election in Tuscaloosa.

The deadline for candidate qualifying applications is Jan. 26 at 5 p.m, with election day set for Tuesday, March 2. Click here for more information on the upcoming election.

In summation, four of the seven seats on the Tuscaloosa City Council will see incumbents challenged, while Districts 1 and 3 will see a new face sworn in. District 4 Councilor Lee Busby is the only incumbent on the council who has not seen a candidate qualify to challenge him on the ballot. Both District 1's Phyllis Wade Odom and Council President Cynthia Almond, who represents District 3, both announced they would not seek re-election.
As of Friday, only one race for the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education is contested, with four incumbents and the board chair running unopposed.
