Tuscaloosa To Celebrate Arbor Week With Seedling Giveaway
The seedling giveaway will be held at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Saturday, Feb. 25, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending when supplies run out

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa on Tuesday announced it will partner with the Alabama Power Service Organization to give out 350 container tree saplings and the Alabama Forestry Commission to give away 1,000 seedlings in honor of Arbor Week later this month.

The seedling giveaway will be held at the Tuscaloosa River Market on Saturday, Feb. 25, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending when there are no trees left.

Sapling types will include apple, dogwood, holly, mulberry, oak, plum and others.
The city says saplings of several different tree varieties will be given away for free on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of two per family.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early due to the expected high demand.
What's more, the event will include the opportunity to learn tree planting tips and proper tree placement from Alabama Power arborists.
