Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre Releases 2021-22 Schedule

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre is celebrating 35 years on stage and recently released its schedule of upcoming shows to ring in the occasion.

“We have so much to celebrate this season – returning to live performances after the pandemic, reconnecting with our audiences, re-engaging our young actors, and remembering all of those who have made TCT into the vital community asset it is today,” Executive Director Stacey Messina said. “We can’t wait to get started!

Artistic Coordinator Drew Baker said the popular tunes and charming storylines featured in the productions were chosen specifically to delight audiences.

“After all we’ve been through the past year and a half, we want to give our audiences and our actors a bit of magic and a lot of joy with these classic tales,” Baker said. “The gorgeous costumes, elaborate sets and heartwarming themes are guaranteed to excite our audiences watching them and our actors performing them.”

Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre also plans to dedicate this season to Shelley Jones and Dee Ward, who secured the funding to create TCT in 1986.

Tickets for shows during the 2021-22 schedule can be purchased here approximately one month ahead of each production. Seating will be limited to 50% capacity due to current restrictions at the Bama Theatre.

Here's a look at the 2021-22 production schedule ...

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Oct. 1-3, 2021)

• Audition workshop: Aug. 8 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
• Auditions: Aug. 12 & 13, starting at 5 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Academy, with sign in by 6:30 p.m.
• Ages: 12 and up, with preference for 18 and under.

Elf The Musical JR (Dec. 3-5, 2021)

• Auditions Oct. 7 & 8 at Tuscaloosa Academy, starting at 5 p.m., with sign in by 6:30 p.m.
• Ages: 5-18

Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR (April 29-May 1, 2022)

• Audition workshop: Feb. 27, 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
• Auditions: March 3 & 4 at Tuscaloosa Academy, starting at 5 p.m. with sign in by 6:30 p.m.
• Ages: 5-18
