A Tuscaloosa County man who ran from police during a warrant check earlier this month is back in custody.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa County man who ran from police during a warrant check earlier this month is back in custody.

According to Tuscaloosa County Jail records, Reece Chavez was taken into custody Tuesday after running from the scene of the search on Aug. 7.

This prompted a large search effort just outside of Northport in the area of Atlanta Lane, Bone Camp Road, Sullivan Road and Highway 171.
Chavez was charged with attempting to elude, fourth-degree theft of property, possession of drug paraphernalia, escape 3rd, and possession of a controlled substance.

Chavez is currently being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, with his total bond set at $27,000.
