September 22, 2021
Congratulations to Mr. Dennis Duncan, TCSS Director of Career Technical Education, on being selected as a recipient of a 2021 AlabamaWorks Innovator Award!
The AlabamaWorks Innovator Awards highlight people and programs that take an innovative approach to solving workforce challenges in our state. Mr. Duncan was selected for his role in creating a modern manufacturing training program for our students, to prepare them to meet the needs of industry in our community. The TCSS Modern Manufacturing Program is serving as the model for other Alabama school systems, as well as schools from other states, to develop their own modern manufacturing programs. With support from West Alabama Works and the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, the former Brookwood High School was converted to the Brookwood Career Technology Annex, where the modern manufacturing program is housed.
"Recipients are visionaries, outside-of-the-box thinkers, and problem solvers," Ed Castille, Alabama Deputy Secretary of Commerce, said in the award announcement.
