Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Launching New Ranger Program For Teens

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday it is gearing up to launch a new program designed to give local teenagers a firsthand look at careers in law enforcement while helping them develop leadership skills.

The TCSO says its new Ranger Program is being created for Tuscaloosa County residents ages 16 and 17 who are interested in leadership, community service and public safety.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of functions within the agency, including patrol operations, detention services, medical response, communications and community outreach.

Officials said the program is intended to go beyond introducing teens to careers in law enforcement by emphasizing character development, responsibility, teamwork, confidence and service to others.

TCSO the goal is to accomplish this through a combination of hands-on activities, classroom instruction, mentorship and community events.
