Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office Warns Of Latest Phone Scam

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving a caller falsely claiming to be a senior law enforcement official and attempting to convince victims they have been summoned for grand jury duty.

TCSO says the scammer is identifying himself as Chief Alex Miles and telling residents they have a grand jury summons.

Officials emphasized that the calls are fraudulent before saying the Sheriff's Office will never call to request money for any reason.

Authorities are urging anyone who receives one of these calls not to provide personal information, financial information or payment details.

Residents should hang up immediately and report the incident to the sheriff's office by calling (205) 752-0616.
