"Our online tax lien sale was basically handled by our vendor GovEase this year," she explained to the Tuscaloosa County Commission during her annual update. "This saved the county a whole lot of money. It’s proved to be very beneficial in the last two years we’ve done this."

To explain the process for those unfamiliar, bidders are not purchasing the property, rather, they are purchasing a tax lien against the property to cover the amount of all taxes, interest, penalties, fees, and costs due on the property.
"The county collected $52,287.36 in delinquent taxes for 2021 through the sale," Jones said. "There is no outstanding liability for Tuscaloosa County in any form or fashion."
