Local activists in Tuscaloosa, who have previously undertaken initiatives such as collecting masks for the Tuscaloosa County Jail, are spearheading the effort and hope to fill a 12-foot enclosed trailer with supplies that will be delivered to Austin Mutual Aid by Tuscaloosa resident Darrin Griffin.

“I was planning to go to Austin to help my family, and when I realized they found aid, I then thought, I have a truck and trailer, maybe we can quickly fill it with donated supplies,” Griffin said.
The group purportedly contacted shelters in Texas and compiled a list of needed items that include: Individually-wrapped snacks, bread, canned meat, peanut butter, soup (in pouches, not cans if possible), PPE, masks and sanitizer, cleaning wipes, trash bags, diapers, formula, feminine products, tooth brushes/paste, and water.
