Tuscaloosa To Host Annual 'Fourth Of July Celebration On The River'

The free, family-friendly event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th birthday during its annual Fourth of July Celebration on the River at the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater.

The free, family-friendly event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The event will feature live music, children's activities, patriotic performances and a fireworks show along the Black Warrior River.

Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with Kids Zone activities in the amphitheater's East and West plazas. This will include face painting and inflatable games.

DJ Tank will provide music from 6 p.m. until 7:55 p.m.

At 7:55 p.m., the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra will take the stage to perform patriotic selections, continuing through the evening's fireworks display.

The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. following brief remarks from Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox.

Attendees are encouraged to park in the city's free downtown parking deck at 2230 Seventh Street and either walk or take a shuttle to the amphitheater.

Accessible parking will be available in the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater box office lot.

Visitors should also be aware of ongoing construction associated with the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/Jack Warner Parkway Improvements Project.

As Patch previously reported, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed from north of Sixth Street to Jack Warner Parkway near the Nicks Kids Avenue intersection.

The Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater's clear bag policy will be in effect during the event.
