Tuscaloosa Investigators Arrest Man For Rape, Sexual Abuse Of A Child
Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit have charged a 48-year-old man with rape, sexual abuse of a child and other charges.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit have charged a 48-year-old man with rape, sexual abuse of a child and other charges.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, told local media on Friday that Scottie Taylor was arrested Thursday on two counts of first degree rape, one count of sexual abuse of a child less than 12, and one count of first degree sexual abuse.

Pursuant to Aniya’s Law, Taylor was denied bond after being booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
Kennedy said the investigation is ongoing and other charges are possible in the future, but declined to provide additional details in order to protect the privacy of the victim.

Kennedy also mentioned that due to the nature of the assaults, and known proclivities of these types of offenders, the Violent Crimes Unit encourages anyone who may have been a victim, or knows of any possible abuse by this subject to contact investigators at (205) 464-8690.
