Zachery Rashawn Mack, 31, has been charged with first degree sexual abuse and first degree sodomy. His combined bond was set at $75,000. A second suspect — Daryl Mack, 34 — was charged with first degree rape and saw his bond set at $60,000.
Kennedy said the two suspects are cousins "to some degree," as they have the same last name.

"The victim reported that she had been drinking, and had little to no memory of the events, but had pieced together the events from speaking with other persons present," Kennedy told local media on Thursday. "The Sexual Assault Section of the Violent Crimes Unit assumed the case and immediately began an investigation."
Kennedy explained that witness testimony was collected and video evidence was obtained that corroborated that the victim was not able to consent to any sexual activity.
"Multiple search warrants were executed for physical evidence. Two suspects were located and interviewed," he said. "Based upon all evidence, and the suspect’s own statements, both were arrested and charged for sexual assault. Whether or not only alcohol was involved is still under investigation."
Those with any information into this case or who believe that they may have been a victim of a similar assault by either of these two individuals, they are asked to contact the VCU at (205) 464-8690.
