Once the officer commented that they could smell marijuana, Peoples was asked to step out of the vehicle. TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor then told Patch that Peoples put his 2017 Hyundai Elantra back into drive and prompted the pursuit, which lasted roughly 15 minutes.
The brief chase would end at an apartment complex at 815 Garden Parkway after Peoples stopped the vehicle and was taken into custody by TPD officers. In addition to an unrelated arrest warrant, Peoples was charged with attempting to elude police, which is a felony, and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
