TPD's Family Crimes Division said Zoe Floyd Michael Jr., 29, was arrested Thursday afternoon after officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of James I. Harrison Parkway at 4:19 a.m. Tuesday on a report of an unresponsive five-month-old boy.

TPD went on to say the infant was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, then to Children's of Alabama in Birmingham and remained hospitalized until he was taken off life support at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators found evidence indicating that the child had suffered injuries consistent with abuse, which resulted in Michael being charged after police learned that he was the only adult at the home in the hours before the child became unresponsive.
