Cornelius Rashad Jones, 31, turned himself in to investigators at the Tuscaloosa County Jail, who learned that Horton had been in a relationship with a woman who was an ex-girlfriend of Jones.

"The woman was driving the car the victim was a passenger in," he said. "She was not injured. Anger over the new relationship is believed to be the motive behind the murder."

Jones has been charged with capital murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

He has been denied bond and remains in jail.
