Tuscaloosa Man Killed In Marengo County Crash Saturday Afternoon

A Tuscaloosa man was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80 in Marengo County.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa man was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80 in Marengo County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the wreck occurred at approximately 1 p.m., when the 2003 Ford F-150 driven by Richard E. Powell, 70, left the roadway before striking a utility pole and a tree.

The truck then burst into flames. ALEA said Powell was pronounced dead at the scene, which was approximately 10 miles east of Demopolis.

The cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation.
