Tuscaloosa Mayor Appoints Crites To Executive Director Of Urban Development
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Tuesday announced the appointment of Ashley Crites as the city's executive director of Urban Development.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox on Tuesday announced the appointment of Ashley Crites as the city's executive director of Urban Development.

The appointment is effective immediately.

“In her nine years with the City of Tuscaloosa, Ashley has played a critical role in the planning and development of our City,” Maddox said. “Her proven experience combined with her knowledge and expertise make her highly qualified for the role of Director of Urban Development. I am excited to welcome her to the leadership team and to see how the department will flourish under her direction.”
An employee of the City of Tuscaloosa since 2013, Crites has served as the acting executive director since March 3. She has also worked within the city's Planning Division and, most recently, as planning director.

As for her qualifications, the City of Tuscaloosa pointed to her specialization in public policy analysis, land use implementation and urban design, in addition to her expertise in strategic planning.
