TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox says he intends to return to work tomorrow after sustaining minor injuries in an automobile accident Sunday evening.

Maddox took to social media Monday night to announce the news, saying he suffered a few bumps and bruises, but no major injuries.

The specific details of the crash have not been released at this time, but the Tuscaloosa Police Department confirmed the wreck occurred at McCorvey Drive and Hackberry Lane, near Jack Warner Parkway.

Maddox counted himself fortunate, praising the response by the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue and DCH Regional Medical Center, in addition to several bystanders.

"Except for some soreness, I'm ready to get back to work tomorrow," he said.
