TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley was recently named to the International Association of Chiefs of Police's 2021 40 Under 40 list, which is made up of the top rising leaders in the law enforcement profession from around the world.

Blankley has served as police chief since February 2020. During that time, he has overseen extension renovations to the Tuscaloosa Police Department's longtime headquarters, a modernization of TPD's community engagement tactics and sweeping policy reforms within the department to promote transparency and accountability.

“In today’s society, when being a police officer is hard and unpopular and our officers still enjoy coming to work ... that motivates me more than any arrest ever could,” he said in a statement included with the announcement.
