TPD also confirmed that none of its officers were injured in the shooting and the condition of the person shot has not been made public at this time. At the scene, the area between the two businesses was cordoned off, while a Dodge Ram pickup truck could be seen with the driver's side door left open and surrounded by TPD patrol vehicles.

Tuscaloosa city officials said the plan for Thursday night into Friday would include a review of the body camera footage from the incident. Both TPD and the City of Tuscaloosa said statements would be forthcoming once the details were fully understood.

Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley told local media at the scene that the call came in at approximately 8:40 p.m. and few updates were available during the investigation's early stages.

"We don't have a whole lot of details at this time," he said, before mentioning that the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation. As is normal protocol with officer-involved shootings, VCU investigators employed by the Tuscaloosa Police Department will be removed from the investigation.
