Tuscaloosa Police Identify Pedestrian Killed On 15th Street
A Tuscaloosa man has been identified after being struck and killed in an accident on 15th Street Wednesday night.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified a pedestrian who died from his injuries Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle on 15th Street Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Juan Lucas, 33, of Tuscaloosa. TPD stood by its previous announcement that it does not appear criminal actions contribution to the accident while also saying investigators do not anticipate any criminal charges being filed.

TPD said the driver of the vehicle was traveling east on 15th Street at 8:15 p.m. when he saw Lucas standing in the roadway near 33rd Avenue. He was unable to stop before striking him going roughly 35 miles per hour — according to the driver and witnesses.
Lucas was pronounced dead from his injuries at 1:42 a.m. Thursday at DCH Regional Medical Center.
