Tuscaloosa Police Name Suspects In Memorial Day Weekend Shootings
Here's the latest on investigations into a pair of fatal shootings over Memorial Day weekend, as investigators appear to be making progress.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has released several updates, including identifying suspects and announcing arrests, following a weekend of violence in the city.
Captain Jack Kennedy, the multi-agency unit's commander, said Charles Deandre "CJ" Newton, 25, has been arrested on a single charge of murder in the shooting death of Kourtnei Mills at The Legacy at Country Club Apartments on May 30. Nelson Beville Jr., 20, was also arrested Monday and charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the case.
One other suspect is also being sought in the apartment shooting — Chakyla Deambri Scarbrough, 22, for conspiracy to commit murder.

Snow Hinton Park murder
Davares Rayshun "Ray Ray" Grayson, 27, is also wanted on capital murder and others charges in the shooting death of Lorenzo Graham on May 29 in Snow Hinton Park.

Kennedy said the capital murder enhancement arises from the fact that the victim was killed in the presence of a related child under the age of 14, going on to say the victim's 1-year-old son was present during his murder.
