Tuscaloosa Police Searching For Hwy 69 S Pursuit Suspect Who Crashed Vehicle, Fled Scene
An active search is underway for a suspect who led Tuscaloosa Police officers on a high-speed chase, before crashing the vehicle and fleeing

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department and other agencies are actively searching for a suspect following a vehicle pursuit that began just before 5 p.m. in the area of Bear Creek Road and Highway 69 South.

TPD spokesperson Stephanie Taylor confirmed to Patch that at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday, a driver refused to pull over for a traffic stop in the vicinity of Plantation Drive, before leading officers through Crabtree Road, Laurelwood Drive and Old Greensboro Road.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office also assisted during the pursuit in this area, she said.
TPD officers witnessed the driver throw something from the vehicle near Manora Estates, before wrecking and abandoning the vehicle on Dove Lane.

A search of the area is currently underway.
The pursuit was also the second for Tuscaloosa County on Wednesday.
As Patch previously reported, a Northport Police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon when he was dragged by a suspect's vehicle at The Wharf, before a pursuit began on Highway 69 North that eventually ended with the suspect taken into custody in the area of Union Chapel Road.
Patch has confirmed the two chases are unrelated.
