Tuscaloosa Restaurants Get Low Marks In Latest ADPH Scores

Here are the restaurants who received low scores recently from the state health department and who had to take corrective measures.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Public Health has released its recent list of enforcement actions for different restaurants and businesses, including several in the Tuscaloosa area.

ADPH says an establishment is required to immediately cease operations in the event of any of the following:

  • Extended interruption of electrical or water service
  • Complete lack of refrigeration
  • Complete lack of hot water
  • Sewage backup
  • Misuse of poisonous or toxic materials
  • Onset of an apparent food-borne illness outbreak
  • Other circumstance that may endanger public health, including an inspection score of less than 60.

The state health department points out that operations are not resumed until an inspection indicates conditions constituting an imminent health risk and a substantial hazard no longer exist.

What's more, ADPH stressed that, in most instances, conditions are corrected and the establishment can reopen within a few hours of receiving the score.
