Tuscaloosa Rotary Club To Donate $20K For Mason's Place Project

The donation will be given next month will be the first installment toward the group's pledge of $50,000 for the project.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) Foundation has announced it will receive a $20,000 donation from the Tuscaloosa Rotary Club next month to the help fund the first phase of the Tuscaloosa All-Inclusive Playground Project or TAPP, which is also referred to as Mason's Place.

The local civic group will present the check during a ceremony on Sept. 6 at Indian Hills Country Club.

PARA said on Tuesday that the donation will go toward the first installment toward the group's pledge of $50,000 for Mason’s Place, our community’s all-inclusive playground.

As Patch previously reported, TAPP was built with the mission of providing an accessible, inclusive playground in Tuscaloosa for children and families of all ages and abilities.

The first phase of the project opened in the spring of 2021, with the PARA Foundation recently approving to move forward with construction on the next phase this coming spring.

The PARA Foundation says it is working alongside engineers and architects to complete the "site work, drainage, and hardscapes."

The next phase of the projects to add a second pavilion to allow for more shade, along with a space for people to gather, rest, and socialize.
