TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Rotary Club Memorial Foundation on Tuesday named The Phoenix House as the recipient of its 2025 community improvement grant, awarding the nonprofit $50,000 to support critical facility upgrades.

The foundation announced last fall that it would award up to $50,000 to a local nonprofit for its next community improvement project.

Organizers said 18 organizations applied and The Phoenix House was ultimately chosen following a rigorous review process.

The funding will be used to upgrade the women’s bathroom facilities at The Phoenix House and ensure the renovations meet all Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility requirements.

The check was presented Tuesday during the group's meeting.
