Tuscaloosa VA To Honor Women Veterans With Event Friday
The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center is gearing up to host a Women Veterans Recognition Day event Friday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center is gearing up to host a Women Veterans Recognition Day event Friday to honor the service and contributions of women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The event, organized by the VA's Women Veterans Program, will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday June 12 in the auditorium of Building 4 at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, 3701 Loop Road East.

The observance commemorates the anniversary of the 1948 Women's Armed Services Integration Act, which granted women permanent career opportunities in the U.S. military.
Women veterans are invited to attend the free event to learn about VA programs and resources while participating in activities focused on health and wellness.

Organizers say the event is designed to help women veterans connect with one another, recharge and celebrate their service.
The event is open to all women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including those who are not currently enrolled in VA health care.
