Tuscaloosa Woman, 3-Year-Old Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash

An adult and three-year-old child are dead following a multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 59.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa woman and a three-year-old child are dead following a multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said on Tuesday that the crash occurred at approximately 4:11 p.m. Monday when a 2021 Kia Forte driven by Laquavia R. Thomas, 33, of Tuscaloosa, was struck by a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by a man from Brandon, Mississippi.

ALEA went on to say that following the initial collision, the Kia struck a 2017 Honda CRV driven by a woman from Ralph before then hitting a 2016 Cadillac Escalade driven by an Aliceville woman.

ALEA said Thomas and her passenger, a 3-year-old, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred near the 68 mile marker, approximately three miles south of the City of Tuscaloosa.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
