Tuscaloosa Woman Jailed After Hitting Man With Bat During Fight At Gas Station

A Tuscaloosa woman has been charged with assault after brandishing a baseball bat in an altercation with two men at a gas station Friday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa woman has been charged with felony assault after brandishing a baseball bat in an altercation with two men at the Mapco gas station at 6737 Highway 69 S on Friday.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department confirmed to Patch that officers arrived on scene to find three people — two men and one woman — actively involved in a physical altercation.

The initial call prompted a large police response on the busy thoroughfare during the lunch hour, with nearly a dozen patrol vehicles on the scene. TPD said numerous passersby called dispatchers to report the altercation.

Arnetta Carthage, 48, was charged with second degree assault after hitting one of the men with the baseball bat, while the other two men involved in the altercation were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

TPD says an on-duty captain witnessed the altercation and took the three individuals into custody immediately.

Carthage was booked into the Tuscaloosa Count Jail, where her bond was set at $7,500 for the felony charge. She was also charged with disorderly conduct.
