Tuscaloosa Woman Killed In Saturday Crash In Sumter County

A Tuscaloosa woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Sumter County Saturday afternoon.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — State troopers are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Sumter County just before 1 p.m. Saturday that resulted in the death of a Tuscaloosa woman.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says Pearlie M. Ivy, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu she was driving left the roadway, struck a sign post and a driveway headwall before going airborne and striking several trees.

The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 116 near Spring Valley Church Road, roughly four miles west of Gainesville in Sumter County.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
