Two Tuscaloosa County Women Killed, Three Others Injured In Highway 43 Crash

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Two Tuscaloosa County women were killed and three other people injured in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday on Highway 43 in northern Tuscaloosa County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the crash occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m., close to the entrance of the Cherokee Shores neighborhood.

ALEA told local media Saturday night that Abigail G. Woods, 20, of Brookwood, was driving a 2013 Ford Focus when it collided head-on with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a teenager from Northport.

Woods was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA also said a passenger in the Ford, Sierra N. Jackson, 19, of Cottondale, was also fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Two additional passengers in the Ford both 19-year-old men from Cottondale, were also injured and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center.

ALEA said debris from the crash struck a 2002 Toyota Tacoma driven a Northport man.

The crash remains under investigation.
