Two In Custody After Multi-Vehicle Crash On Skyland Boulevard

Two suspects are in custody after a multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Skyland Boulevard.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department says two suspects are in custody after a multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Skyland Boulevard prompted a large police presence in the vicinity of Slim Chickens.

TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor says TPD investigators were working reports of stolen vehicles on Monday when they received information that a stolen car had been spotted at Branscomb Apartments.

She said investigators were speaking with the two suspects when they jumped into another car and fled the scene, before being followed by the investigators and a Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy who had responded followed.

Taylor then explained that the law enforcement officers were not, at any time, engaged in a high-speed pursuit.

Rather, she said the suspect driver ran a red light at Skyland Boulevard, struck another vehicle and caused it to damage a third vehicle during the crash.

Two suspects were transported to TPD's Criminal Investigations Division to be interviewed, Taylor said, with charges pending.
