Carpenter said multiple agencies responded to the accident involving a 2012 Toyota Camry, driven by Luke Marlowe Smith, 62, of Coker and a 2011 Toyota Camry, driven by Heather Lynn Scott, 35, of Northport.
He went on to say the preliminary investigation found that the vehicle driven by Smith was traveling east on McFarland Boulevard when he attempted to avoid striking a deer. Losing control of his vehicle, Smith reportedly crossed the median and struck the car driven by Scott as she travelled west on McFarland Boulevard.
