Two Tuscaloosa Residents Gear Up For 126th Boston Marathon
Here's a quick look as two women represent Tuscaloosa at the 126th Boston Marathon on Monday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Two women are once again set to represent Tuscaloosa on the big stage Monday at the 2022 Boston Marathon.

Hosted by the Boston Athletic Association, the 26.2-mile marathon saw its wheelchair division begin at 8:02 a.m. CST, with the first wave of runners beginning at 9 a.m. CST

A new wave of participants will then start every 25 minutes, with the last one beginning at 10:15 a.m. CST.
Ann Besanceney, 42, and Chihiro Nakai, 37 — both running out of Tuscaloosa — competed and finished the marathon last year.

Nakai is also a citizen of Japan and will be running in her fifth Boston Marathon. Here's a look at her previous times:

- 3:23:01 (2019)

As Patch previously reported, Besanceney is a registered nurse at DCH Health System, a mother of four and a former All-American track star at Michigan State University. In only her second marathon and her first time running the world-famous Boston Marathon in 2021, she finished with a time of 3:23:41, averaging out to 7:47 a mile.
