UA Reports Second Building Evacuation In As Many Days

UA has evacuated its Alabama Institute Manufacturing Excellence​ building following complaints of the odor coming from renovation work.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama says it has evacuated its Alabama Institute Manufacturing Excellence (AIME) building following complaints of the odor coming from the installation of flooring.

Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service responded to the scene to help ventilate the building and UA officials said there is no risk to the campus community.

The evacuation comes the day after UA evacuated its Honors Hall, due to a chemical found in a storage room that could be hazardous if allowed to dry.

That situation was also swiftly addressed and no injuries resulted from the potentially hazardous material.
