UA System Names Presidential Search Advisory Committee

The University of Alabama System on Wednesday announced the launch of a national search for the 30th president of The University of Alabama.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama System on Wednesday announced the launch of a national search for the 30th president of The University of Alabama after it was announced that President Stuart R. Bell plans to step down this summer.

The UA System has also appointed a presidential search advisory committee to guide the process, including soliciting input from stakeholders, developing the presidential profile and position criteria, and recruiting and assessing candidates.

Tuscaloosa native and Board of Trustees Member Karen P. Brooks will serve as chair of the committee.

Consultants Ann Die Hasselmo and Christopher N. Butler — of Academic Search — have also been brought on to support the UA Presidential Search Advisory Committee.

Interim chancellor Sid J. Trant will recommend a final presidential candidate to the UA System Board of Trustees for approval upon the completion of the search.
