With the fundraising goal for 2023, UWWA says it hopes to bolster ongoing efforts to support 30 local nonprofit agencies in the local community.
“To be successful, we need a UNITED effort," UWWA campaign chair Christ Gunter said. "Let’s commit to reaching our goal, ensuring that every member of our community has the opportunity to thrive. With this year’s goal of $4.5 million, we are demonstrating our commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of West Alabamians. Together, we can uplift families, empower individuals, and create a brighter future for everyone."

UWWA campaigns in the past have provided resources to its local nonprofit partner agencies, which then allows them to provide crucial programs and initiatives that address essential needs across education, health, financial stability, and disaster recovery.
Indeed, the nonprofit estimates that one in four west Alabamians benefit from these services.
“We know that with rising costs on groceries and other basic items, many of our donors are concerned about their economic outlook," UWWA President and CEO Jackie Wuska said. "That also means that those who were already struggling to make ends meet are struggling even more now. We added four new partner agencies last year to address these needs, but that means we are asking everyone who can be part of this year’s campaign to give. The only way we can reach the goal and support all of our neighbors in need is to UNITE for the good of all.”
