Dr. Lesley Reid has been named The University of Alabama’s Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, effective Sept. 1, 2021.

Dr. Reid joined UA in 2014 as Professor and Chair of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the College of Arts and Sciences, a position she currently holds. She served on faculty at Georgia State University from 2000 to 2014 prior to coming to the Capstone.

She is a criminologist whose research focuses on broad structural conditions that make places safer or less safe, with a focus on immigration, ethnicity, housing and employment. From 2019 to 2021, Dr. Reid served as the Interim Dean of UA’s School of Social Work.
