TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute, or AEI, an outreach organization located in The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Business, will host several events as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 8-14, to foster entrepreneurship in UA students, faculty, staff and area residents.
The main event, the River Pitch Business Idea Competition, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9, and offers any entrepreneur with a solid business concept an opportunity to pitch their idea in front of a panel of judges for a chance to win a $1,000 prize. Ten prizes will be given away during the competition.

Other events like a demonstration day at The EDGE and an innovation challenge from Tuscaloosa City Schools will offer unique opportunities for the entrepreneurial community to connect and learn from each other.
“The slate of events we’re hosting promises to showcase the dynamic innovation community in Tuscaloosa,” said Dr. Theresa Welbourne, AEI executive director. “We have something very special here.”
All events will be held in person and will follow all recommended COVID-19 health protocols. In addition, several of the events may also be attended virtually.
