University Of Alabama: Not Just For Students, Campus Dining Serves Faculty And Staff, Too

Fantastic Fridays are back!

UA faculty and staff once again can enjoy eating at campus dining halls on Fridays bi-monthly for $5.50.

But Fantastic Fridays aren’t the only time faculty and staff can eat with Bama Dining. They can dine at any of UA’s 32 locations using credit or debit cards, Bama Cash, or a faculty/staff meal plan, said Kristina Patridge, director of University Dining Services.

“They can go anywhere,” Patridge said. “If they want something quick, they can use our new mobile ordering app for both Apple and Android devices to order from the 16 locations we have that can use mobile ordering, including Alston Hall Subway.”

Here’s a quick guide to dining on campus for faculty and staff.

Whether on your way into the office or headed to a meeting or class, there are many places to grab a delicious cup of joe. Fresh coffee is now available at every dining hall and several other select locations on campus thanks to new Starbucks Serenade machines. The machines grind fresh, whole coffee beans with every order. There’s also Cooper Café, which serves Java City Coffee, at Hewson Hall, Java City at Gorgas Library, Dunkin Donuts at Lakeside Dining Hall, Starbucks in the Ferguson Center and Starbucks off of Paul W. Bryant Drive.

During the fall semester, sometimes leaving campus to get a bite to eat is not as convenient as grabbing a meal on campus. The Ferguson Student Center has a food court with a selection of fast fresh foods such as Panda Express, Chick-fil-A, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and Subway.

Another food court, Stewart’s Corner, offers Fresh2Go items such as salads, hummus, fruits, fresh vegetables, assorted bottled and fountain beverages, chips, candy, Chick-fil-A, Pizza Hut Express, Boar’s Head Deli and Fruited smoothies and smoothie bowls. Stewart’s Corner is located on the first floor of Lloyd Hall. Another spot for fast food is Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, which can be found in Paty Hall.

A quick option that also doesn’t require one to go indoors is visiting one of several food trucks that can be found in campus hot spots like the Quad near the rear entrance of Gorgas Library throughout the semester. Food trucks rotate weekly, and a schedule can be found on the Bama Dining website.

If one wants to eat light, there are plenty of options around campus, including salad bars in dining halls. If you’re craving a fresh smoothie or fruit bowl, there’s the new Shake Smart in the Student Rec Center, Presidential Fruited in the student activity center inside Presidential Village and Blenz Bowls, which now has a location at the Ferguson Center.
