University Of Alabama Raises $3.6M, Breaking 'Bama Blitz' Record

The 2021 installment of crowdfunded, social media-driven campaign, surpassed previous records as the university raised $3.6 million.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama shattered its previous fundraising record for its online Bama Blitz campaign in 2021, with supporters contributing 2,131 gifts totaling more than $3.6 million. The latest installment of the fundraising initiative began April 12 and ended Thursday, surpassing previous records of 1,826 gifts and $2.5 million.

“Since the inaugural Bama Blitz, UA faculty, staff, students and proud alumni have continued to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to the Capstone,” said University of Alabama President Stuart Bell. “By generously donating to passion projects, the UA community is contributing to our legacy, inspiring the creativity of our campus and fueling the University’s impact on the world.”

UA also said Bryant Bank matched all gifts given to passion projects up to a total of $50,000.

Small donations also played a big role in the success of Bama Blitz this year, with UA reporting that 94% of the donations were in amounts of $500 or less.
