UWA Hires Inaugural Women’s Flag Football Head Coach

LIVINGSTON, AL — The University of West Alabama has hired Benjamin White as the inaugural head coach of its new women’s flag football program.

UWA announced this week that White will lead the program ahead of its first season of competition in spring 2027. The addition of women’s flag football was announced in October 2025 as part of an effort to expand athletic opportunities for female student-athletes and boost enrollment.

"I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to become the inaugural head flag football coach at the University of West Alabama," White said. "This is an exciting moment not only for me personally, but for the University and the future of women's flag football. I'm excited to help build this program from the ground up, establish a strong culture of excellence, and provide our student-athletes with an unforgettable experience both on and off the field."

A native of Savannah, Georgia, White brings coaching and playing experience in flag football, including a seven-man National and World Flag Championship with Team Savannah in 2019.

UWA says he began his coaching career at Calvary Day School in 2021, helping the program win three regional championships and the inaugural Future Stars Women’s High School National Championship in 2024.

White also served as head coach of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes U18 team beginning in 2022, where he handled offensive and defensive play-calling, along with recruiting.

We're confident he will create a strong culture for our student-athletes and lay the foundation for long-term success both on and off the field."

White is scheduled to officially begin his tenure June 1 and has already started recruiting efforts for the Tigers’ inaugural roster.
