COTTONDALE, AL — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6022 in Cottondale is asking for the community's help in gathering items for veterans in need ahead of the cold winter months.

The VFW Post 6022 Auxiliary — the service arm of the fraternal veterans organization — is handling the donation drive and is asking for the following items:

- Blankets
- Comforters
- Winter coats
- Gloves
- Stocking hats
- Toiletries.
The donation drive is an ongoing project and items can be dropped off at the VFW Post Wednesday through Sunday after 4 p.m.
The VFW Post 6022 is located at 7001 University Boulevard in Cottondale.
