Victim Identified Following Fatal Shooting Saturday Morning In Tuscaloosa

Investigators have identified a man shot and killed early Saturday morning following an altercation at a Tuscaloosa bar.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has identified a 30-year-old man who was shot and killed in the early morning hours Saturday following an altercation at a Tuscaloosa bar.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency unit, told local media that officers were called to a reported shooting at approximately 3 a.m. near the intersection of 24th Street and Greensboro Avenue.

Once on scene, officers found Michael Brand Jr. had been shot. Kennedy said he was transported to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.

"The shooting occurred approximately one block away from Club 205, as a large group of patrons were exiting the club," Kennedy said Saturday afternoon. "The investigation is still active and ongoing. There were numerous witnesses to this shooting."

No arrests or suspects have been announced as of the publication of this story.
