TUSCALOOSA, AL — Investigators provided an update late Saturday night after a man was found dead inside a Tuscaloosa apartment earlier today.

As Patch previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police officers were initially called to the apartment complex at 2:19 p.m. on a report of a man who had been assaulted and killed at Brookhaven Apartments at 1310 James I. Harrison Jr. Parkway.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media that TPD officers responded after a friend went to check on the resident and found 67-year-old Marshall Holifield dead inside his apartment.
Kennedy said evidence at the scene indicated the man's death was the result of foul play.
