Sponsored by Iron Tribe Fitness, the event will feature a flat timed course, giveaways and food for all participants, along with awards to benefit a charitable cause.

"We’re thrilled that this year’s Turkey Trot will support Magic Moments, so we can help bring even just a little light to families going through a hard time,” Wagner’s RunWalk owner Matt Wagner. “Our goal is to put on a fun event for the entire family and to encourage the community to be active. We welcome runners and walkers of all levels.”

Wagner said Magic Moments is an Alabama-based nonprofit that fulfills dreams for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

“As the only wish-granting organization devoted exclusively to children in Alabama with life-threatening conditions, Magic Moments depends solely on fundraisers, grants, and donations,” Magic Moments Executive Director Sandy Naramore said. “Being selected as the beneficiary of this year’s Annual Turkey Trot will allow us to continue providing magic to children in our community. What an honor!”

Registration is priced at $20 for individuals and $25 for entire families, with a price increase set to go into effect on Sept. 28.

Wagner's RunWalk says individual participants will receive a T-shirt and have access to door prizes ranging from a free pair of socks to a $140 pair of new shoes.

Additionally, participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Community Soup Bowl, with a goal of collecting 200 food items.

“The number of hungry men, women and children in our community continues to swell,” Community Soup Bowl Director Susan Lavender. “The Community Soup Bowl provides a hot nutritious meal seven days a week to all those struggling in the West Alabama area. We are currently serving 350-400 plates per day. All food donations help us provide meals to feed the hungry.”
